Co-Founders

Chris Burnett

President and Chief Executive Officer

Chris Burnett co-founded Verde Park Resources LLC in 2022 and now serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.  Chris has over twenty years of experience with a proven record of leadership, strategic planning and customer service.  Before founding Verde Park Resources, Chris served as Sr Director of Regulatory and EHS for Howard Energy Partners where he developed the teams and processes for safety, regulatory compliance, permitting and PSM areas. 

  • Chris worked over thirteen years for NuStar Energy in several roles of increasing responsibility, to include Sr Manager of HR and Public Affairs, Director EHS Regional, and Executive Director of Regulatory and Customs.  In these roles he has developed many areas of expertise in domestic and international regulatory compliance including safety management systems, capital project permitting strategy, merger acquisition and asset sale diligence, enforcement mitigation, investigations, corporate safety, process improvement, and project solutions.

Emily Rieger

Chief Financial Officer

Emily Rieger co-founded Verde Park Resources LLC in 2022 and is currently serving as Chief Financial Officer for the company. Emily brings with her more than two decades of experience in the energy industry. Most recently she worked for Howard Energy Partners serving as Senior Director of Cost Controls and Contracts where she developed the cost controls function for the company and restructured the vendor contract department under the COO.

  • Her prior experience also includes fifteen years with Energy Transfer where she held multiple rolls including building the tax team and developing the cost controls group within the engineering and operations department. Additionally, during her time with Energy Transfer, she assisted on numerous mergers and acquisitions and was appointed to the company’s executive M&A team in 2012, in this role she led acquisitions such as Southern Union, Regency GP, LLC and Sunoco LP.  Simultaneously she led a large team of analysts focused on preparing operating budgets of over $3B annually and new project construction costs averaging over $12B annually.

Ability to provide full “turn-key” project management for new capital venture projects, acquisitions, divestitures, on-going operations, and diligence endeavors. Services include personnel, consulting, project services, and resources for clients.

    • Conduct due diligence audits and assessments for acquisitions, divestiture, and investors for regulatory compliance, safety programs, environmental programs, ESG, and emergency response capabilities

    • Development of ESG (Environmental Social Governance) programs tailored to investors and key stakeholders

    • Lead integration of compliance programs for acquisitions, new and existing facilities, and startup companies

    • Evaluate financials to include operational and project cost

    • Consult on permit requirements for new construction and modification of existing assets to ensure most cost and time effective permitting strategies

    • Management for full capital project permitting including engineering calculations, permit application preparation and submittal, agency interaction and expedition of the process

    • Implementation of compliance programs for acquired permits including compliance task calendars, reporting schedules, and outlined operational requirements

    • Evaluate, audit, develop, and implement EHS Regulatory departments or companywide regulatory compliance programs to ensure compliance and appropriate staffing levels for Environmental, Health & Safety, Pipeline Safety, Security, Process Safety Management, and ESG programs for new and established companies

    • Develop and implement or provide improvement opportunities for KPIs to better define ESG, Regulatory, Safety and Environmental performance

    • Develop written plans and policies for Clean Air Act Compliance, RCRA Hazardous waste compliance, Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures (SPCC), Storm water pollution prevention plans (SW3P)

    • Develop or improve incident reporting, investigation, tracking, trending

    • Evaluate, develop, and promote a culture of safety and environmental excellence within the organizations to drive operational excellence

    • Provide consultation on regulatory compliance programs to executive management, project engineering, business development, and operations

    • Available to serve as a liaison in frequent interaction with regulatory agencies, public officials, media personnel, potential investors, capital partners, insurance underwriters, and governmental officials

    • Develop and maintain compliance budgets with an objective to reduce overall cost of compliance

    • Federal motor carrier safety administration (FMCSA); Fleet Management Program Audits

    • Present company compliance and safety performance with potential and current investors, underwriters, and general public

    • Consult on or manage emergency response and remediation activities and programs

    • Develop or manage project cost tracking to include cost estimating, contract set up and negotiations, and procurement services. This applies to individual projects or overall process development and/or software implementation

    • Develop or manage annual operating budget and cost tracking to include process development and/or software implementation

    • Vendor and customer contact services to include master service agreements (MSA), professional service agreements (PSA), master construction agreements (MCA), non-disclosure agreements (NDA)

    • Accounting - SEC; GAAP audit compliance to include ERP system implementation and maintenance

    • Develop or manage state sales and use tax compliance including software implementation

    • Property tax services to include abatement work, assessment valuation negotiations and filing

    • Manage engineering contractors and projects

    • In-house designers available to provide design and drafting to include As-Built Drawings
